I GUESS I CAN FORGIVE

Those people who didn't come to the meeting. But I miss your beautiful faces. To those that did show, Thanks-so-much, you're VERY VERY cool.

I added two events to the "Upcoming Events" module, one is the comedian Lambda is cosponsoring and the other is the show dates for SUPERMAN. I put it in there, 'cause CARO is in it. And as such, it should be seen. Many many times.

Also, Charles is in a RUGBY game this weekend, Saturday, 1 o'clock in the IM field. Get your cheer on.

ALSO, check this out: The Matthew Shepard Act passes the Senate!

I can't really think of anything else. If you'd like to be added to the lambda listserv contact gaystu@wm.edu!

THURSDAY, MUCH LIKE A GOOD PROSTITUTE

Is right around the corner.

That means we're having our weekly meeting.

Morton 38. That's the place. 7:30.

It's mostly just a planning meeting. Going over events, e-mails i've received, informational stuff.

And then an amazing letter to Dear Kathy Griffin and the representative on the board of visitors.

Aight. See you there.

Faggoty Attention

So, I thought I should contribute some more to this blog.
A friend of mine showed me this music video a few weeks ago, and I've probably watched it a billion times since then. But I don't feel like I've shared it with enough people yet.

Give in to temptation... and click here, betches: Faggoty Attention by Adam Joseph

Words can't even describe its awesomeness, so I'll let the video speak for itself.

E-MAIL TYPO

So I sent out an e-mail reminder for the meeting tonight, Thursday...

and then I had to send out another one because the place was changed...

and (it being Wednesday when I sent the update e-mail) I accidentally put the word "tonight"...

BUT the meeting was not yesterday. It is tonight. Tonight, Thursday, September 20th, at 7:30, in Small 109.

Thanks.

HOMO-SEXUALSssss

Tomorrow's meeting: Thursday the 20th, 7:30, SMALL 109. (this is different from the first e-mail.)

Ever wonder WHY you're gay? (Why god punished you in such a horrific and fabulous manner?) Grant will be doing a presentation on the Etiology of Homosexuality. So come out and find out. I know you want to finally tell your parents that it's their genes' fault and not yours. ;)

Keep in mind that anyone can use a meeting to do a presentation, start a debate, enter into discussion about pretty much anything. Just contact one of us on the exec board, or gaystu (he's a REALLY cool guy) and give us your ideas.

I can't WAIT to see you there.

XOXOXOXO

NO MORE WIRE HANGERS!!

So the amazingly pro-choice group VOX is putting on a play in November called JANE: Abortion and the Underground, and they need actors ESPECIALLY males. (Three to four of them).

"We are women whose ultimate goal is the liberation of women in society. One important way we are working toward that goal is by helping any woman who wants an abortion to get one as safely and cheaply as possible under existing conditions."
Jane pamphlet, 1969-1973

Rehearsals will be once to three times a week depending on your character. (The hourly commitment during the rehearsal period probably won't be more than four hours). The actual performance will be on the 16th, 17th, and 18th of November and VOX is hoping for a turnout of 700+ people in the audience over the three nights.

If you're interested contact: maberm@wm.edu

Let's get some drama queens out there.

DO YOU KNOW?

The meeting yesterday went swimmingly. At least I think so. And since I'm the secretary, what I say goes.

We had some announcements, some business stuff, and watched some videos of the sexworkers.

( Dirty Martini and Jo Weldon ) as well as decided to cosponcer the the gaysian comedian Rich Kiamco

Also:

The organization Skiffy is putting on a production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and needs participants. Not only do they need lead roles (everyone’s welcome to try out) but also extras to run around the stage in fantastic costumes or nearly no costume at all. The rehearsals will be once or twice a week, so the time commitment isn’t huge. The performance will be on Halloween. If you’re interested please contact alrect@wm.edu.

Aight kids. That's about it for now.

Aight. That's about all. This one's a quickie.

A TRUE MESS

Hope everyone had a FANTASTIC weekend.

It was great seeing some of you peoples at Constance's. Here's a big thanks to that amazing blond-dreaded woman.

Before Stonewall traces the social, political and cultural development of the gay and lesbian community. As such, the film is not a narrow history of gay civil rights, but the hidden story of a vital American subculture.

After Stonewall chronicles the gay and lesbian experience since the Stonewall riots, presenting a story as compelling, rewarding and provocative as the individual lesbians and gays who defined the era. Both films skillfully use interviews and archival footage to celebrate and record the homosexual experience in America.

Rabbi David Edleson (’83)

This heartfelt documentary brilliantly reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families – offering healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

Alright. Someone needs to appreciate that I had to copy and paste all those photos into paint, save them, and then upload them individually and place them in the right boxes.

That's all I can think of for now.

Oh. One more thing. Britney Spears was a true mess tonight during the mtv movie awards. It was her "comeback" performance and it def looked like she hadn't practiced and might have been intoxicated. Check it: Banged-up Britney
(hopefully that works.)

Night beautifuls!

THE DAY AFTER THURSDAY

Woah.

Two things

1) That video that Caro posted? Fantastic.

2) All the people who showed up for our first meeting? Even more fantastic (Sorry Caro). Now let's try and get a repeat next week. Sorry for it being a little disorganized, we definitely weren't expecting such a great turn out. It'll get better as we progress and have meetings that are a little more structured. But seriously, don't you people eat food? Granted, the cheese ball may have been a little unsightly, but it was DELICIOUS.

Anyway. Social time.
Constance is having a queer-friendly get together at her place tomorrow night, around 11ish. She drew a map on the blackboard and everything. If people be needing rides and stuffs, shoot me (rwress@wm.edu) a message before around four tomorrow and we'll see if we can't arrange something if there's enough interest. It'll most likely be just a there ride, not a there and back (until the next morning. Because let's be honest, I want to party too.)

XOXOXOX

Butch/Femme

Huh? What? You know what I like?
The rough, strong hands of a big, butch dyke.

So... I was going to wait and post a big entry of queer female music...
but this song deserves an entry of its own.

Watch this video.

Today's Meeting

Alright, the day has come to have our first Lambda meeting of Fall Semester! (Thursday, 6th, 7:30, Tucker 106)

I figured I'd put the agenda on here, so people can come with a little bit of an expectation as to what's gonna be going on.

-We're gonna start off with an intro to what Lambda is, what we do, what events we sponsor, etc etc.

-An Ice breaker run by the lovely Mea

-Announcements & Dues

Dues can either be paid by semester (5$) or for the whole year (10$). We need these so we can continue to be fabulous, and get food and other necessities.

And for your daily dose of phallic for today, take a gander at Tallahassee's capital building:

MORE UPDATES

Hey kiddos!

Just wanted to pass along some information that I got this weekend to all you fabulous people out there.

Lambda will be having an organizational meeting tomorrow, Monday, the 3rd, at Five o'clock, to talk about some plans for the year. We'll be meeting in the Lambda office in the campus center. This is pretty much going to be solely discussion about the club, so nothing terribly exciting. But if you have any suggestions for us, definitely stop by.

Proposed agenda:

Meetings: How frequent, How necessary, How to structure
Potential speakers/performers for the year
How to have Gay fun
- Plan first event, talk about ideas for later
- What other groups can we co-plan with
